Blk Grrrl Book Fair Presents Elie Wiesel’s “Night” Read-Aloud Saturday, December 10
6 p.m.. to 8:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church located at 40 S. Fullerton, Montclair, New Jersey, 07042
Blk Grrrl Book Fair will be presenting a 2 hour reading of Elie Wiesel’s Night in conjunction with Montclair’s Human Right’s Day at the First Congregational Church in Montclair.
In 1948 United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Palais de Chaillot, Paris.
From the United Nations:
“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. Drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 (General Assembly resolution 217 A) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected and it has been translated into over 500 languages.”
In remembrance of that day Montclair is having a day of celebration.
Blk Grrrl Book Fair is hosting a “Read-Aloud” of Elie Wiesel’s novel Night. The Read-Aloud will be livestreamed and recorded for archival purposes.
The community is welcome to come assist us in reading or to just listen.
There will be special guest readers from the art, literary and social justice communities who will begin the reading.
An open sign-up for the audience members who want to read will be available during the event.
